Poolside again, talking Redbirds on today’s bonus pod…
Has the Cardinals-Cubs rivalry died down?… What is the best rivalry in baseball?… Main issues this season: Injuries, bullpen, lineup, and injuries again… Seems like they’ve spent money on the wrong guys… Have had success developing guys from the ground up… Something isn’t working, so it’s time for a change if they don’t make the playoffs this year… Trading for Machado in July if you’re 4-5 games back is not a smart move… Back to Cards-Cubs rivalry – will it ever be back to what it used to be?…

The St. Louis Cardinals announced Sunday the team has recalled John Brebbia from Memphis and placed Adam Wainwright on the 10-day DL, who is suffering right elbow inflammation.
“I think he seems OK with it. He doesn’t want it to get to the point where it was before,” manager Mike Matheny said. “What can he do proactively instead of being reactive to having it really flare up. He’s on a good program to get a little more rest, get a little more treatment with it to get ahead of it and then get back out there and compete. That’s the thought right now.”
Wainwright was originally scheduled to pitch Tuesday against New York, Weaver will slide into that game on regular rest and the rest of the rotation will follow suit according to Matheny.
Brebbia appeared in two games in relief for St. Louis earlier this season, registering 2.0 scoreless innings.
Wainwright is 1-2 with a 3.45 ERA this season.
Fifteen strikeouts at the plate. Nine walks given up on the mound. Top four in the batting order, a combined 1-16 on the day with eight strikeouts.
Not the start that you were looking for out of the gate if you are the Cardinals, obviously.

But for me, all it means is that America’s Pastime is finally back!
